What you will do
As a Tax Technical Staff within the Rewards practice, you will work with global clients to understand and address some of their largest and most complex people-related challenges and ultimately improve and drive sustainable business results.
Key responsibilities include
- Developing relevant and flexible tax-compliant compensation, benefit and incentive approaches for clients, including:
- Advising clients on regulatory matters and the taxation of compensation and benefit programs, including U.S. and global programs.
- Benchmarking and designing executive and broad-based compensation and benefit arrangements.
- Supporting clients in complex transactions (mergers, acquisitions and divestitures), including:
- Conducting financial due diligence on HR, compensation and benefit programs.
- Identifying tax, financial, and regulatory risks related to compensation and benefits and a target company’s broader HR function.
- Performing golden parachute / Section 280G calculations in connection with transactions.
- Advising on the tax and financial implications and executive compensation broad-based arrangements, including drafting technical memorandums and opinions addressing various Internal Revenue Code Sections, including, but not limited to, 83, 162(m), 280G, and 409A.
- Providing support to EY’s Tax, Assurance and Consulting functions as compensation and benefits subject matter resource.
Job requirements and preferences
- Required qualifications
- A predicted undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business or Industrial Relations; supported by a strong academic record.
- A demonstrable plan for passing the CPA exam for accounting majors or plan to become an enrolled agent for other majors.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong quantitative acumen, including outstanding analytical ability.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
- A driver’s license valid in the U.S.
- Preferred qualifications
- Strong academic record with a 3.5 undergrad GPA.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel.
- Proficiency in MS Office, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
- Effective project management skills, including effective organization and time management skills with ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines.
- Strong follow-through skills and attention to detail.
What we offer
We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The salary range for this job, in the US, is $82,000 - $90,000. Individual salaries are based on education, geographic location, and alignment to the market data.
