Tax - Indirect Tax - Sustainability - Staff
Our Global Sustainability Tax practice provides holistic services to related to sustainability taxes and incentives including global, federal, state, local incentives and tax credits to support transformation to a green and de-carbonized economy. Our services also include assisting clients that are following emerging tax policies and regulations related to sustainability taxes (including carbon, pollution, health, plastics and other social and governance tax matters).
Our clients need objective advice related to policy and impacts of sustainability taxes both domestically and globally. They also need assistance understanding and applying the myriad economic development incentives for sustainability investments. Sustainability tax plays a critical role as client advisors in sustainability planning and making positive societal change assisted by enabling client use of government grants, incentives and tax credits that are intended to spark positive societal change. Sustainability tax helps clients measure the impacts of and comply with sustainability taxes.
We’re seeking exceptional talent to support exceptional client services and to fuel the Americas and Global growth of our Sustainability Tax practice. Mentored by nationally recognized professionals (including our firms most senior talent) you’ll be a trusted advisor helping our clients to make strategic decisions and to interpret and apply government grants, incentives and tax credits to their business operations and sustainability goals. You will also provide tax advisory and compliance services related to sustainability taxes
You’ll be an essential part of a team providing high-quality technical work to clients. You’ll balance your time between multiple tasks, supporting the team in research, collecting and analyzing data to inform client policy decisions, and advising clients related to sustainability taxes and sustainability grants, tax credits and incentives while building your foundational knowledge. As part of that, you’ll need to possess interpersonal skills, be able to absorb and observe, and be flexible in a changing environment.
At the same time, you will help to build a better working world by assisting the business community to effectuate and accelerate achievement of their sustainability goals by advising clients as they take action in response to government taxes, regulations and business incentives aimed to positively impact these global environmental challenges.
Your key responsibilities
Following evolving global, federal, state and local sustainability policies and taxation developments
Assisting with the creation of thought leadership and client information materials
Contributing to the writing, editing, and formatting of project reports and proposals
Developing client deliverables such as grants and incentives applications, incentives ROI analysis and documentation, tax and incentives analysis, benchmarking studies,
Working with internal teams and external clients to advise on the impacts of sustainability taxes and incentives and their potential impact on achieving corporate sustainability goals

Qualifications
A predicted degree in Economics, Public Policy, Engineering, Environmental Studies, or a related field; or an advanced degree in Tax or Law; supported by a strong academic record
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Interest in environmental sustainability or LEED-certified professional status
Strong analytical and writing skills
Experience building dashboards using data visualization software, such as Tableau
Experience with federal, state and local incentives preferred
Experience working in the field of environmental sustainability, taxes or incentives preferred
The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary
Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations.
What we offer
We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The salary range for this job, in the US, is $69,000 - $125,000. Individual salaries are based on education, geographic location, and alignment to the market data.
