What you will do

As a Transaction Analytics Intern, you will develop highly sought-after analytical skills while solving a broad range of business issues for Fortune 500 companies, small and middle-sized enterprises, and leading private equity firms. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help our clients both in and outside of an M&A transaction. As an expert in business analytics, you will deal with large datasets, including performing data extraction, transformation, modelling, data visualization, benchmarking, and various descriptive and predictive analyses to help our clients make better decisions.

By leveraging your data analytics skills, you are expected to learn and utilize various tools such as Alteryx, SQL, Python, and Excel in addition to data visualization tools such as Power BI. You will be working with, and learning from, highly talented colleagues on challenging, fast-paced, and complex assignments. You’ll be expected to present your findings in a way that is easily understood by technical and nontechnical audiences at all levels.

Job requirements and preferences

  • Required qualifications

  • Have, or be working toward, a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in a preferred field of study (Business Analytics, Data Analytics/Science, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Computer and Information Science, Business Administration/Management, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics).

  • A strong academic record, including, without limitation, course work that EY deems relevant to this position (GPA minimum of 3.5).

  • Sufficient business acumen and critical thinking skills to draw and synthesize meaningful insights from robust underlying data relevant to our clients.

  • Sufficient ability to manage and work with large datasets (e.g., data wrangling/transformation/structuring) as well as perform relevant analyses.

  • Experience with or understanding of relational databases/data models.

  • An understanding of basic financial, accounting and business terminology.

  • The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary.

  • Preferred qualifications

  • Demonstrated interest in consulting.

  • Passion for solving real business issues and gaining deep experience in various industries and functional areas (e.g., go to market, supply chain, operations, corporate finance).

  • Desire to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment and working under time sensitive client deadlines.

  • Thorough level of ability to interact, communicate, and present effectively with internal team/supervisor as well as external clients.

  • Experience with or interest in working with alternative data sets to draw insights on competitive positioning and company performance.

What we offer

We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The hourly pay range for this job, in the US, is $48.08 - $50.48. Individual salaries are based on education, geographic location, and alignment to the market data.

Our expectation is for most people to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
